Naseem Shah Likely to Miss World Cup due to Injury

Naseem Shah World Cup participation doubtful due to shoulder injury.

Naseem Shah right shoulder injury is more serious than first injury, according to ESPNcricinfo on Saturday.

“Pakistan’s Naseem Shah, a fast bowler, is likely to miss the entire World Cup after scans revealed a more serious injury to his right shoulder than first injury.

“The PCB is understood to be seeking a second opinion, but scans from tests in Dubai appear to show the injury could rule him out for the rest of the year,” the article said.

“Should secondary results back up the initial ones, Naseem, 20, is looking at a layoff spanning several months, which means his participation in the Test series in Australia at the turn of the year is in question, as well as the next Pakistan Super League is also in grave doubt,” it added.

Naseem left the field during the 46th over of Pakistan’s second match against India at the Asia Cup last week. It was reserve day for that match. The PCB quickly issued a press release announcing that the right-armer had been disqualified from the remainder of the competition.

Shah sustained a muscle damage immediately behind his bowling shoulder, which is unrelated to any prior shoulder ailments.

If necessary, Zaman Khan, who took Shah’s place during the Asia Cup, could be called up for the World Cup.

The PCB will probably decide in the end once they obtain Shah’s secondary scan results in a few days.
