Observes, Legend of Qawwali Ghulam Farid Sabri 30th Death Anniversary.

It has been 30 years since Ghulam Farid Sabri, the renowned Qawwal who gave a new dimension to Qawwali, left his fans and today is his 30th death anniversary.

Ghulam Farid Sabri found great fame in the art of Qawwali and his sung Qawwalis are still popular today.

Ghulam Farid Sabri was born in 1930 in Indian East Punjab, after the creation of Pakistan, the Sabri family settled in Karachi.

He was fond of qawwalis since his childhood, his first album was released in 1958 whose qawwali “Mera Koi Nahi Hai Tere Swa” broke all records of popularity.

Qawwal Ghulam Fareed Sabri used to sing Qawwali with his brother Maqbool Sabri, the duo of Sabri brothers left everyone behind in the 70’s and 80’s, “Sarilamkan Se Talab Hoi” and “Milta Hai Kya Namaz Mein Sajde Mein Ja ke dekh” remained his famous sayings, “Bhar do jhuli meri ya Muhammad” continued his fame.

Apart from Urdu, Ghulam Fareed Sabri also presented Qawwals in Persian, Punjabi, Saraiki and Sindhi languages.

On April 5, 1994, famous Qawal Ghulam Fareed Sabri died of a heart attack in Karachi, but his art is still alive in the hearts of fans.
