Among these students, one group developed an innovative machine to check the electrical rhythm of the heart and detect any abnormalities, which was also successfully tested, while another group developed a machine used as an external aid in physiotherapy. After which the patient will not need to go to the hospital.

Both these machines are self-made by students at local level with low cost and can be sold in the market at a very reasonable price.

The students say that if the government provides a little help and support, these machines and equipment can be easily produced in Pakistan.

Research and papers related to biomedical engineering were also presented at Durza conference. The conference was attended by Vice Chancellor of Dow Medical University Dr. Saeed Qureshi, Dr. Farhan Isa and vice chancellors of various universities, while Sindh Higher Education Chairman Dr. Tariq Rafi participated as a special guest.

In his speech to the attendees, he claimed that although biomedical engineering is crucial to medicine, it has never received enough attention in Pakistan. Not only can our students display their abilities, but they can also magnify Pakistan’s name.
