Qazi Amin Ahmed, Former SC Judge, Died

The Supreme Court judge Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed passes away.

The former judge suffered a heart attack and died. The funeral prayer will be said today at 6 o’clock in Lahore Bahria Town Phase 4 graveyard.

Retired Justice Qazi Amin was a criminal law expert. He served on the benches that heard key cases such as the Army Public School (APS) massacre and the Justice Qazi Faez Isa case.

He rendered significant decisions on pre-arrest bail and the significance of investigating officers testimony.

On March 25, 2022, the judge announced his retirement from Pakistan Supreme Court. He was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Arif Alvi on September 24, 2019.

In Chakwal, Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed was born on March 26, 1957. He finished his early schooling at the Government Degree College in Chakwal and the Government High School.

He graduated from the University Law College in 1980 with a law degree, and in 1981 he enrolled as an advocate.

In 1985, he enrolled in a doctoral program at the University of Amsterdam in public international law and finished ancillary courses at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague in international law and international relations.

1986, Qazi Amin Ahmed began practicing law. In 1997, he registered as a Supreme Court of Pakistan Advocate. 1986 to 1991, he served as a visiting faculty member at the International Islamic University in Islamabad.

From 2000 until 2004, he was a member of the Punjab Bar Council. From September 2007 to June 2009, he was Additional Advocate General for Punjab.

On November 7, 2014, Qazi Amin Ahmed received a promotion to the Lahore High Court, and on April 24, 2019, he was sworn in as a judge of Pakistan Supreme Court.
