Security High Alert in Karachi, Islamabad

High security alert in Islamabad & Karachi after Peshawar mosque blast

Sindh Rangers have increased security at Mosques and Imambargahs in Karachi and begun snap-checking and patrolling in order to maintain law and order.

DG Rangers directed the deployment of paramilitaries in sensitive areas and increased security in religious places of worship throughout the city.

Law enforcement has also been directed to beef up security at all religious sites, including Mosques and Imambargahs.

Rangers have been directed to conduct a joint search of suspicious areas with police. The DG Rangers Sindh also issued orders to the sector commanders.

The public has been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals to Rangers’ helpline 1101. The public can report incidents to Rangers via WhatsApp at 0347-9001111.

The news comes after a suicide bombing in Peshawar’s Police Lines mosque killed at least 58 people and injured more than 157 others.

Following the deadly explosion in Peshawar earlier in the day, Islamabad police also increased security.

Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, Inspector-General Police (IG) Islamabad, has issued a security alert. Islamabad Capital Territory police increased security and checking at federal capital entry and exit points.

Police are also keeping an eye on the situation via cameras installed as part of the Safe City project. Snipers have been stationed in sensitive areas and buildings.

The Islamabad Capital Police Department has thermal imaging capability.

Citizens have been instructed to carry their identification cards and important documents with them while traveling and to cooperate with police during searches.
