PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf meets Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shanwaz Durmani.
Chairman PCB congratulated Karachi Whites on winning the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24, praising the leadership qualities of their captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as well as the performance of fast bowler Shahnawaz Durman.
Zaka Ashraf also reiterated PCB’s commitment to continue working for the welfare of players and support regional cricket.
Sarfraz is also being considered for the Test captaincy for the upcoming tour of Australia, possibly taking over from Babar Azam. Possible changes in team management are also under consideration.
Babar Azam’s captaincy depends on the team’s performance in the ongoing World Cup.
Sarfraz is in superb form at the moment, having recently led Karachi Whites to victory in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, finishing as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer and winning the Man of the Tournament award.
During the conversation, Sarfaraz Ahmed also gave Zaka Ashraf ideas and suggestions on dealing with domestic cricket issues in particular.
A three-match Test series against Australia is scheduled after the World Cup, with the first Test to be played in Perth on December 14.
It may be noted that under the leadership of Babar Azam, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka 2-0 in July, which was Pakistan’s first series in the new World Test Championship WTC cycle from 2023-25.
