"DC Naushahro Feroze" embezzling about 2 billion rupees, escapes for Azerbaijan

DC Naushahro Feroze suspended in Rs 2 billion embezzlement case M-6.

Tashfeen Alam, Deputy Commissioner, DC Naushahro Feroze, has been suspended in connection with the almost 2 billion embezzling in the Sukkur-Hyderabad (M-6) Motorway project according to sources.

He escaped to Azerbaijan on November 19, and Sindh’s Services General Administration and Coordination Department (SGACD) suspended him four days after, on November 22. However, The Federal Establishment Division has suspended him for 120 days. A charge sheet will also issue to the officer.

The charge sheet is based on the conclusions of a committee created by the Sindh government to investigate the embezzlement of the M-6 Motorway project. Divisional Commissioner Nawabshah first reported DC Naushahro Feroze’s absence to SGACD. Divisional Commissioner Nawabshah notified the SGACD that DC Naushahro Feroze had been absent from duty for four days.

The investigation found that Tashfeen Alam had constituted himself as Land Acquisition Officer (LAO) for the project. Only an Assistant Commissioner (AC) can appoint an LAO under the Land Acquisition Act of 1984.

DC Matiari

The investigating committee previously revealed that Sindh Bank’s incompetence helped DC Matiari, Adnan Rashid, to embezzle billions of rupees in the M-6 Motorway project DC Matiari was permitted by Sindh Bank to create an official account in his name as Deputy Commissioner of Land Acquisition.

However, before creating the official account, Sindh Bank did not acquire clearance from the provincial Finance Department.

Sindh Bank disregarded Regulation 1 (21) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terror Financing Law, which states that all banks must get authorization from their respective finance departments before creating official accounts.
