Jamaat-e-Islami will not Tolerate Rigging in General Elections

Jamaat-e-Islami has warned of strong resistance in case of rigging.

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chapter, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has expressed serious concern over the rigging of the election on the ECP, highlighting the alleged exchange of the presiding officers of the election.

Addressing a press conference at Jamaat-e-Islami headquarters in Karachi on Tuesday, Hafiz Naeem warned that there will be strong resistance if the elections are rigged.

The JI leader pointed out that the recent orders of transfer of some presiding officers of the ECP cast doubt on the impartiality of the election process.

He suggested that the alleged exchanges could be an attempt to manipulate the elections in favor of certain political parties, which would be a breach of trust of the ECP.

He said that ECP had already damaged its reputation during local body elections in Karachi. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman expressed concern that additional ballot papers were allegedly being provided to the elected presiding officers, which increased the risk of manipulation of the results.

Also emphasized that if any such rigging takes place, ECP will be held accountable and highlighted the responsibility of ECP to ensure a level playing field for all parties.
