The anti-terrorism court judge granted Yasmin Rashid bail application.
Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid in Gulberg arson case on May 9.
The court ordered the release of Yasmin Rashid on a bond of Rs 5 lakh. Sources said that Yasmin Rashid will not be released due to arrest in other cases.
It may be noted that Yasmin Rashid was initially detained under Maintenance of Public Order in connection with the May 9 incidents.
Yasmin Rashid was ordered to be released by the Lahore High Court on May 13, but a few hours later, she was taken into custody again in three more cases pertaining to May 9, one of which involved the Jinnah House attack.
The Punjab Police requested the Anti-Terrorism Court to conduct an investigation involving Dr. Yasmin Rashid, on which the court allowed Dr. Yasmin Rashid to be investigated in the Askari Tower vandalism case.
It should be noted that after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, there was a nationwide protest by the PTI, during which soldiers, Civil and private installations were set on fire, public and private property was severely damaged while at least 8 people were killed and 290 injured.
Following this, law enforcement authorities nationwide detained 1,900 individuals for fighting, vandalism, and arson, and filed complaints against Imran Khan and his party affiliates.
Dr Yasmin Rashid, along with other leaders and activists, were named in an FIR registered with the Sarwar Road police on charges of terrorism and other charges for the alleged attack on the Corps Commander’s House.
