He said that the people of Karachi have trusted us, MQM is leading in 18 seats of Karachi.

Yet, rival parties such as Jamaat-e-Islami and PPP contested the MQM-P claim.

During a late-night press conference, MQM-P convener Dr. Maqbool Siddiqui said, “Based on the results we have received so far, MQM-Pakistan has secured a clear victory on 17-18 NA seats, with outcomes for the remaining seats awaited.”

Dr. Siddiqui stated that the MQM-P regained the mandate of urban Sindh, which was snatched in the 2018 general election.

The party got votes from Urdu speaking areas as well as Kemari and Sohrab Goth.

Mustafa Kamal:

Senior MQM-P leader Mustafa Kamal thanked the people of Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas for restoring faith in his party.

However, PPP leader and Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that his party was ahead in 12 NA seats in the metropolis.

He also expressed concern about the delay in releasing provisional results.

JI-Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman told a private news channel that the MQM-P was making “false” allegations.

He claimed that only his party and the PTI were leading on the national and provincial assembly seats from Karachi.

The JI leader warned against attempting to impose what he called “rejected people” through governmental machinery.

Sources in the provincial election commission’s office admitted that the process of electronically sending/receiving Form 45 was very slow in the evening and “almost stopped” at around 1:30am.

Citing one example, they said that MQM convener Dr Siddiqui was fighting the election from NA-248 in its ‘so-called stronghold’ in district Central, yet at several polling stations he lost the poll miserably.

According to sources in the electoral commission’s office, no complete sets of Form 45 have yet been received from any of the 22 Karachi NA seats.

According to incomplete figures, the MQM-P is leading in seven of the eight NA seats in Karachi.
