Pakistan hockey team rises 15th in FIH rankings after Paris qualifier.
Details reveal that Pakistan hockey team, which recently competed in the Paris Olympics qualifiers held in Muscat, Oman, moved up one spot in the FIH rankings to settle at 15th.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has not paid the players’ salary for the preceding six months, according to squad captain Ammad Butt.
Ammad thanked the supporters for their consistent support and discussed the difficulties the players were facing. He emphasized the lack of government funding and facilities, as well as the lack of media attention, sponsorship, and an appropriate professional framework over the last ten years.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan lost to New Zealand in the qualifier’s 3/4 place match, ending their hopes of qualifying for the Olympics. Germany, who won 4-0 in the semifinals after a vital 3-3 draw against Malaysia, closed the path to Paris 2024.
It should be mentioned that the Pakistani squad has not been able to secure an Olympic spot for three consecutive years.
