Sartaj Aziz, a veteran of Pakistan’s movement, has passed away at 95.
“Sartaj Aziz is passed away. He was a valuable asset to the country and a veteran of the Pakistan movement. He will be sorely missed. We shall never forget the contributions he made to the country. I had the privilege of working closely with him, and I will always be grateful for his support and affection. The former federal minister posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “May Allah Bless his soul and Grant patience to the family Ameen.”
Born in Nowshera in February 1929, Aziz was a seasoned politician affiliated with the party led by Nawaz Sharif. Throughout his lengthy political career, he held important positions in the government, such as minister of finance and economic affairs.
In the 2013 general elections, he was chosen to serve as an advisor on foreign policy and national security in addition to continuing as a senator from 1985 to 1999.
President Arif Alvi responded to the passing of a seasoned politician by expressing his profound sorrow and support for the surviving family members. In addition, he asked for his family’s endurance and Aziz’s pardon.
Aziz’s extensive political career included teaching, working in the civil service, and holding public office.
The politician shaped the nation’s economic policy while serving in the Ministry of Finance and the Planning Commission.
In addition to his role as federal minister, Aziz held positions as director of the Food and Agriculture Organization’s Commodities and Trade Division and assistant president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The twice-appointed finance minister was well-respected in the country’s discourse for her astute observations and analysis of political and economic matters.
