In light of the current law and order situation in the federal capital, this ban on the media has been imposed as per Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance.
An official notification issued by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority said that during the recent standoff between the LEA and the workers of a political party in Lahore and Islamabad, satellite TV channels showed police and law enforcement agencies on the TV screens. broadcast live footage and images of violent mobs attacking

It added that broadcasting such content is a violation of the Supreme Court’s 2018 judgment in the automatic notice case.
The Authority acts in accordance with the powers conferred by section 27(a) of the PEMRA Ordinance, 2002, as amended by the (Amendment) Act, 2007. March) prohibits direct coverage of public gatherings, rallies, or marches.
PEMRA also warned that non-compliance would result in license suspension under Section 30 (3) of the PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as amended by the PEMRA (Amendment) Act 2007.
