The second day action started early, with altered schedules for each of the three sessions, and de Silva quickly went to his hundred-off-pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Ramesh Mendis, who had batted overnight, was returned for five runs as Abrar made the first breakthrough of the day.

De Silva persisted in trying to use the lower order to get some important runs before succumbing to Naseem, who struck twice after Pakistan received the second new ball.

In his 214-ball innings, De Silva hit 12 fours and three sixes as the batsman expertly handled the Pakistan bowling. Vishwa Fernando, who is ranked 11, made an unbeaten 21.
