Gullu Butt, who rose to fame from the tragedy Model Town, has passed away after a long illness.
According to News, Gullu Butt, who has been in a life-and-death struggle for a long time, was accused of firing on a police party for breaking the windows of vehicles outside the Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat in Model Town.
Gullu Butt, popularly known as Lion of Lahore, can be seen clearly breaking windows of vehicles during a clash between Pakistan Awami Tehreek activists and police in Lahore’s Model Town area on June 17, 2014 in the footage of TV channels.

After the footage was repeatedly aired in the media, Gullu Butt was arrested but later released on bail.
During this operation, 14 people were killed in clashes between the workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri and the police.
On October 30, 2014, the anti-terrorism department of Lahore sentenced Gullu Butt to 11 years and three months in prison and a fine of Rs 1,11,000.
However, in February 2017, a division bench of the Lahore High Court issued an order for Gullu Butt’s release, striking down the terrorism provisions of the case and annulling the sentence given under it.
Recently, a video of him went viral, in which he could be seen in a very critical condition and apparently he was suffering from extreme torture.
According to his family, Gullu Butt was in a life-and-death struggle for a long time, he suffered two brain haemorrhages and was also a diabetic.
